Day 1 of Home Educating

coronavirus school closure tips for parents
coronavirus school closures so we carry on educating

Lets talk about day 1 of home educating Monday 23rd March. Welcome to Educ8.uk this is our blog about what we’ve done during coronavirus aka covid-19, which is its scientific name. We are going to write a blog everyday on what we’ve done at home. This is a massive project to complete but we are going to push through it since we’re educating at home.

Maths

So today our first lesson was maths and what we’re doing was working on our sheets that school sent home and mine were to do with fractions, decimals and percentages so that’s what we did in Maths. Some examples are 55%-39% or 100%-15%-10% but also there was some word problems also there were questions asking me to shade 63% of a 100 square and to turn fractions into decimals then turn decimals into percentages.

Spelling

Then we did a spelling test, which I got 10/10 on well done to me! The spellings were Bargain, Familiar, Nuisance, Conscience, Neighbour, Temperature, Amateur, Appreciate, Awkward and Determined, which was all year 5 and year 6 spelling words because I’m in year 5. I am really good at spelling words even hard ones like manufacture and car makes such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, Volkswagen and lots more car manufactures.

Reading

Finally we read for 5 minutes so I chose to read Bad Dad wrote by David Walliams. I read from page 100-106 because I read sometimes so that’s why I was already up to page 100. I like the book but it is very long but very good its all about dads that can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. There are fat ones and thin ones, tall ones and short ones. There are silly ones and serious ones, loud ones and quiet ones. Of course there are good dads. And there are bad dads. That’s like a blurb for the book obviously it talks about bad dads.

PE

After dinner, my brothers and I played tennis to get some fresh air. I did all sorts of shots like surfs, forehands, backhands, volleys etc. Get ready to hear tomorrows blog of Day 2 of home educating.

Thank you for reading about home educating day 1

About

Behold Change

Friday 20th March 2020 all schools in the United Kingdom will close under government guidance in efforts to reduce the spread of Corona Virus Covid-19. Other schools throughout the world have already closed and more in further countries are sure to follow.

Welcome. Thanks for stopping and taking the time to read this, in fact if you are reading this then you are here at the start of our adventure ( collect your magic unicorn sprinkles by the door on your way out ).

Schools are now closed for an indeterminate period of time and parents now have “educator” to add to their gigantic list of responsibilities.

Do NOT under any circumstances PANIC. There is simply no need. Uncertainty brings out the amazing.

Our mission is to help those parents suddenly finding themselves having to climb onto the home learning pedestal.
